Carlton Town 1
North Ferriby 0
Carlton Town kept their slim playoff hopes alive with a 1-0 win over North Ferriby.
Although it wasn't a classic at the Bill Stokeld Stadium, Lamin Manneh's composed finish with 24 minutes remaining secured a fourth win from five for Carlton.
A ninth game unbeaten for the Millers moved them to ten points off the top five, and consequently caused their visitors to slip out of the playoff places and down to 6th.
Kick-Off
All the chances in a largely forgettable opening period went the way of the away side.
After ten minutes Alex Flett's quickly taken freekick caught Carlton napping, and picked out Sam Aynseley in acres of space but he failed to punish the Millers with Felix Annan parrying away at his near post.
Seven minutes later Annan was again called into action with the experienced shot stopper comfortably saving a Flett freekick.
The next opportunity didn't come until the stroke of half time, and once again it went the way of the Villagers with a turn and shot from Tom Corner forcing a diving save from Annan.
Half Time: Carlton Town 0-0 North Ferriby
The second period began on a similar note with Annan having to make two further routine stops to keep out Ferriby midfielder Flett.
Chris Bolder's side were made to pay for not being ruthless enough in front of goal as on 66 minutes Carlton broke the deadlock.
Manneh latched onto a long ball on the right side of the box and the winger slotted between the legs of Ben Bottomley and into the far corner from a tight angle to give Carlton an arguably undeserved lead.
This was the 19-year-old's 12th goal of the campaign and his second in successive games.
Following this Ferriby only half threatened with Jack Walters twice heading wide from corners, but in injury time the Villagers were desperately unlucky not to equalise.
A long ball forward from Bottomley was headed back across goal at the back post and to the penalty spot by Dan Hernandez where it was latched onto by Dan Hogg, only to see his shot kept out by a superb reaction save from former Ghana international Annan.
Full Time: Carlton Town 1-0 North Ferriby
Three points means the Millers' unbeaten start to 2025 continues and they move up two places in the table to 8th.
A fourth loss in six games in all competitions for North Ferriby means they are now only two places above Carlton in the table, also their five game unbeaten run on the road has now come to an end.
