MATCH REPORT: TILBURY 5-0 ILFORD

Tilbury 5

Ilford 0

Tilbury stretched their unbeaten run in all competitions to ten games with a dominant victory over Ilford.

The Dockers scored three or more goals in a game for the fifth time in their past six matches thanks to a brace from Roman Campbell as well as strikes from Dan Trendall, Alex Clark and Connor Martin.

Kick-Off

The hosts took an early lead within the opening ten minutes thanks to the in-form Trendall. Oli Spooner was able to nip the ball away from Ilford's David Ejakita before drilling in a by-line cross that was tucked home by Dan Trendall for his third goal in two games.

Ilford responded with a chance of their own one minute later when a seemingly tame Ejakita strike from the edge of the box had to be parried away by Anthony Page.

The Foxes would be left to rue this missed opportunity as four minutes later Tilbury doubled their lead.

A Trendall cross picked out Clark who teed up Campbell with a neat backheel and he drilled the ball home for his seventh goal of the campaign.

Once again Ilford responded with a chance of their own, this time with Zayshaun Asamoah missing a guilt-edge  opportunity. A Freddie Mattock cross was spilled by Page and Asamoah latched onto the loose ball but the former New Salamis striker shanked his volley over the crossbar.

On the half hour mark the hosts further increased their lead thanks to a stunning strike from Clark.

The winger spotted visiting goalkeeper Tom Pitman off his line and the winger let fly from 40 yards out with the ball soaring over Pitman and into the back of the net. This being Clark's first goal back in Tilbury colours after re-joining the Dockers from Maldon & Tiptree last week.

Clark almost struck again five minutes later, but Pitman did well to beat away his fierce curled effort.

There would still be time for Tilbury to add a fourth before halftime with Connor Martin netting his third goal of the campaign from defence.

An inviting Macauley Joynes freekick was met at the back post by Martin who converted with a diving header into the bottom corner.

Half Time: Tilbury 4-0 Ilford

The second period was much quieter at Chadfields with the only goal of the half coming seven minutes after the restart.

A Joynes corner caused a huge goalmouth scramble that ended with Campbell stabbing the ball home from close range for his second goal of the evening.

Full Time: Tilbury 5-0 Ilford

An eighth win in their last ten games for Marc Harrison's Tilbury sees them move up one place in the Essex Senior League Table to 4th. The Dockers are now also seven games unbeaten against Ilford.

As for the Foxes they slip down to 17th as they concede five goals for the second successive game; following their 5-1 loss at Athletic Nehwham on Saturday. Ilford's wait for a win against Tilbury goes on with the Foxes not beating the Dockers since 2010.

Both sides return to action this Saturday with Tilbury travelling to Sawbridgeworth Town, whilst Ilford entertain Barking.
