This Saturday, Concord Rangers return to league action with a trip to the capital to take on Carshalton Athletic.

In midweek the Beach Boys' hopes of replicating their 2020/21 FA Cup run, which saw them reach the first round proper, were dashed with a 3-0 defeat at Wroxham.

Rangers played out a 1-1 draw with the step four outfit last Saturday, with a late Max Hudson strike salvaging a replay, but this proved to be in vein with Concord losing the replay in Norfolk.

This Saturdays opponents also played out a score draw in the cup, but were more successful in midweek winning their replay against Lancing 4-1.

Concord are still yet to pick up a point this season and have endured a miserable return to step three football with the Beach Boys losing every single league game, which leaves them in the relegation zone alongside fellow pointless clubs Cray Wanderers and Potters Bar Town.

As for Carshalton, the Robins are flying with Peter Adeniyi's men fourth in the table and unbeaten thus far this term.

The campaign got off to the best possible start for the London club with a 5-0 thumping of Potters Bar. This was then followed up with back-to-back draws against Bognor Regis Town and Hornchurch; prior to a six point bank holiday weekend which saw wins over Haringey Borough and Kingstonian.

Carshalton have won both of their two matches at the War Memorial Sports Ground this season - also keeping clean sheets in both two; whilst Concord have lost both of their away games 3-0.

The two sides haven't met since 2012 when, in the Ryman Premier, Concord ran out 6-3 winners at the Aspect Arena. The Beach Boys also won the reverse fixture earlier that season 2-1.

Key Player

Danny Bassett

A man with an eye for goal, Danny Bassett re-joined Carshalton from Cray this summer with who he was top scorer for last term with 15 goals to his name.

Since returning to the Robins, Bassett has been able to replicate his goal scoring prowess with four goals so far.

The 27-year-old comes into this fixture with three goals in as many games. The striker bagged a brace against Lancing in midweek and also struck in Carshalton's win over Kingstonian a fortnight ago.

On this day

The 9th of September has been a winless date in recent years for the Beach Boys who have drawn and lost once.

In 2017 Rangers fell to a 1-0 home defeat against Bath City. The Romans edged the game out thanks to a Nathaniel Jarvis strike 18 minutes from time.

Three years prior to this the Beach Boys were able to pick up a point on September the 9th with Rangers playing out an enthralling 3-3 draw at home to Bishop's Stortford.

The visitors had led 2-0 but Concord were able to turn the game on its head thanks to Steve Cawley and a Jordan Chiedozie brace. However, Concord would only lead for five minutes with Roy Young popping up to level the game once more.
