Tilbury 0
Heybridge Swifts 1
Heybridge Swifts returned to winning ways as an early Matthew Price goal inflicted a ninth straight home defeat on Tilbury.
The Swifts came into the game off the back of two straight defeats but it didn't take them long to break the deadlock at Chadfields with Price netting his fourth goal of the campaign after 30 seconds. Former Docker Sam Carter found Rob Harvey out wide and the winger delivered a teasing cross that was nodded home from close range by the unmarked Price for his third goal in four games.
20 minutes later the visitors had the ball in the back of the Tilbury net again but the offside flag came to the Dockers rescue. A Ben Sartain free kick was flicked on by Sam Park to Price who was able to scramble the ball beyond Harry Girling and into the bottom corner but the former Billericay Town striker was adjudged to be offside.
After a poor first half showing, Tilbury came out the second half a transformed side as they desperately searched for an equalising goal and just before the hour mark Heybridge's Tom Wray was forced into his first notable save. Chris Millar played the ball out wide to Alex Clark who burst into the visitors penalty area before letting fly from a tight angle. However Dartford loanee Wray was able to save with his legs to keep Steve Tilson's side in front.
The Dockers kept up the pressure and 12 minutes later Liam Wallace and Marc Harrison's men thought they had levelled the scores but just like Heybridge in the first half they were left frustrated by the assistant's flag. The visitors failed to clear a long throw from Oliver Spooner and the ball broke kindly for Luke Wilson who was able to beat Wray through a side footed volley. However Tilbury celebrations were short-lived with Wilson ruled to be offside.
This was enough to pick up a first away win since January for Heybridge with the Swifts making it four games unbeaten against Tilbury as their playoff pursuit continues.
Defeat for the Dockers sees them remain 17th in the table however they are now only four points from safety following Coggeshall Town's draw with Maldon & Tiptree.
