Tomorrow afternoon Concord Rangers have the chance to end their four game winless league run as Rob Small's men travel to Kent to take on an out of sorts Welling United.
When the two sides last met in November a first goal of the season from Louis Ramsay cancelled out a strike from former Beach Boy Taylor Maloney as Concord were made to settle for a point at home to the ten men Wings.
Welling came into that game with just one win in nine and once again they'll come into a meeting with Concord on the back of a poor run of form.
Warren Feeney's side sit 15th in the table, despite being tipped for promotion in the summer, following a run of five games without a win and three games without a goal. This lacklustre run of results has led to many Welling fans calling for the Northern Irishman to be sacked but despite this United's Belfast born boss remains in charge.
In midweek whilst Concord lost 2-0 at home to Slough Town, Welling picked up a respectable 0-0 draw against playoff chasing Farnborough. Former Concord goalkeeper Myles Roberts was the hero on the night with the Watford loanee saying a Jordan Norville-Williams penalty to earn the Wings a point.
As well as poor form another criticism facing Feeney and his players this term has been their discipline. The men from Park View Road have racked up nine red cards in the National League South so far this season; one of which came at the Aspect Arena in November when Sid Nelson was dismissed for a second bookable offence following a challenge on Concord's Nana Kyei.
The recent history between the two sides is very much in Concord's favour. The Beach Boys have lost just one of their past six meetings with the Wings. As well as this Rangers haven't failed to score against Welling since 2018 when the Kent club ran out 5-0 winners on Canvey Island.
Saturdays game marks the beginning of a busy schedule in the Concord calendar with Small's side playing five league games and an Essex Senior Cup final before the months end.
Tickets and parking can be purchased using the following links below.
Key Player
Taylor Maloney
Former Concord Rangers midfielder Taylor Maloney could prove a threat for his former club following a bright season thus far with Welling following a summer move from Lewes.
Maloney came through the youth ranks at Charlton Athletic making two first team appearances for the Addicks.
During his time at the Valley, Maloney enjoyed two loan spells with the Beach Boys with a short stay at Newport County sandwiched between them.
So far this campaign the 24 year old has netted nine goals for Welling - one of which came in the reverse fixture on Canvey back in November.
They've played for both
Myles Roberts
As mentioned earlier former Beach Boy Myles Roberts now plays his trade at Park View Road following a loan move from Watford in the summer.
Roberts was the main man in between the sticks last term - missing just four games and keeping seven clean sheets.
Alongside fellow goalkeeper Kyle McKenzie-Lyle, Roberts has helped Welling on their way to 10 clean sheets in the league with the 21 year old keeping back to back clean sheets following goalless draws with Hungerford Town and Farnborough.
George Alexander
A recent arrival at Park View Road, George Alexander joined Welling at the beginning of February on loan from National League outfit Bromley.
The 21 year old made an instant impact in Kent scoring an acrobatic strike on his debut in the Wings' 2-2 derby day draw with Dartford.
Alexander has hit the ground running since then with four goals in eight appearances during his time with Welling so far - three of which came courtesy of a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Slough.
Alexander represented Concord during the 2019/20 season on loan from Millwall.
Mo Bettamer
Concord's top scorer this term Mo Bettamer joined the Beach Boys in November 2022 on loan from Hayes & Yeading and since then the Libyan has notched up eight goals in 16 appearances.
The 29 year old has also enjoyed a loan spell with Welling previously in his career when in 2019 the striker scored three goals in eight appearances during a loan spell from Barnet.
Bettamer has proved a key provider of goals for Concord this term and they'll need him to be on form once again if they are to end their recent run of frustrating results.
