Tuesday evening sees two closely matched sides go head-to-head in the lower embers of the Isthmian Division One North division as Hullbridge Sports entertain Wroxham at Lower Road.

Both sides have had frustrating starts to the campaign but for the Sports things are just starting to click.

The Bridge come into the match on a three-game unbeaten run following wins over Tilbury and Great Wakering Rovers followed up by a draw at East Thurrock United.

During their recent good fortune, the men from Lower Road have also been able to acquire two clean sheets from these three games.

Meanwhile for Wroxham they are struggling to adapt to life in step four of the non-league game.

The men from Norfolk won promotion following a second-place finish last term but are still yet to pick up a league win seven games into the season.

Despite this poor start to the campaign the Yachtsmen still have three clubs below them in the table; namely Coggeshall Town, Gorleston and Maldon & Tiptree – the last two are still yet to pick up a point.

Regardless of their league form Jordan Southgate’s men have endured some success in the cup this season. Wroxham progressed to the fourth qualifying round of the FA Trophy on Saturday following a 3-1 win at Lincoln City

Hullbridge Sports’ top scorer so far this season, Chelmsford City loanee Anisius Lewis has started life brightly at Lower Road with three goals in four games.

Still only 18 years of age the teenager came through the youth ranks with Chelmsford before arriving at Hullbridge earlier this season.

Ryan Miles

Just like Lewis, Ryan Miles is Wroxham’s top scorer (joint with Matt Hayden) on five goals.

Last season saw Miles win the Thurlow Nunn golden boot with 31 goals to his name, and the striker has taken his eye for goal into the new season.
