MATCH REPORT: OXFORD CITY 5-0 CONCORD RANGERS

Oxford City 5

Concord Rangers 0

Concord Rangers unbeaten start to the season came to a disappointing end following a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Oxford City.

The tone of the day was set after just 30 seconds as the hosts grabbed an early lead. Teenager Gerald Muchchetere found himself in a pocket of space just outside the area, and the 17-year-old fired home an impressive finish into the bottom corner.

15 minutes later the Hoops doubled their lead through summer signing Klaidi Lolos. Zac McEachran broke into the Concord penalty area from the left, and the 26-year-old squared the ball across to Lolos who powered the ball home from six yards out.

Despite a two goal cushion the hosts continued to threaten with a relentless flurry of attacks and then after 26 minutes they grabbed their third. Lolos found Josh Ashby out wide who whipped in an inviting ball, and Muchchetere beat Melvin Minter to the cross to head home his second of the afternoon.

It could've been four after half an hour as Reece Fleet robbed James Blanchfield before playing it forwards to Lolos, who cut inside and fired a powerful drive goalwards that Minter got down to beat away.

The second half started slowly but City did eventually get a fourth goal. McEachran slipped the ball in behind for Lolos who coolly slotted the ball into the far corner.

With eight minutes left on the clock Oxford goalkeeper Ben Dudzinski was finally forced into a noteworthy save. A Ricky Modeste cross to the far post picked out Tosan Popo who stabbed the ball towards goal. However, Dudzinski was equal to the effort, getting down well to save at his near post.

Then with just five minutes left to play Ross Jenkins' men were able to make it five. Fleet dinked a lovely ball in behind to an unmarked Jean-Baptiste Fischer, and the Frenchman took the ball down nicely before slotting home.

Defeat for the Beach Boys means they are now winless in three against Oxford, whilst victory for the Hoops means they have now won six of their last twelve meetings against Concord.

Chris Search's men return to action next Saturday as Ebbsfleet United come to the Aspect Arena having won all four of their games so far.
